How it Works
Screen printing is a stencil method of print making in which a design is imposed on a screen of ultra-fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance. Ink is forced into the mesh openings by a fill blade or squeegee and onto the garment surface during the stroke. It is also known as silkscreen printing, serigraphy, and serigraph printing. One colour is printed at a time, so several screens can be used to produce a multicoloured image or design.
Suitable Designs
This method is suitable for almost any design and can be used to produce anything from simple one-colour text prints right through to photographic images.
Suitable Materials
- Cotton
Suitable Quantities
Although there is no minimum order, screen printing is generally used for quantities of 50 units or above. This is because the set-up fees involved generally make transfer printing more cost-effective for non-intricate designs of 50 units or less.
Cost
Cost for screen printed clothing is dependent on design and quantity. You can get a live total by selecting a product and customising it online.
